Educator: Chess & Board Games

Role Overview
Brainiacs Adventures is looking for an educator / tutor in chess and board-games for multiple after-school programs at Elementary Schools. The successful candidate will plan the educational sessions, set up the games/puzzles and teach kids to improve their skills, decision-making, choices and failure management.
Each after-school program is for 2 hours during a weekday afternoon and takes place at an Elementary School. Brainiacs has multiple programs running at multiple schools throughout the week. Depending on interest and availability, candidates may conduct multiple courses at more than one school throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities

Always be present from the beginning of each session, prior to the arrival of the children to the end, dismissal of children to their guardians.

Plan and lead gaming sessions in a fun and interactive manner for school-aged children.

Support attendees with their activity set up, understanding and clear up.

Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Other related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Encourage participation at different levels and be proactive with solutions.

Manage attendance, set up and take down for each session.

Report attendance and session update to Program Coordinator.

Ensure safe dismissal for each child at the end of the program.
Qualifications
-
Ability to travel to Elementary Schools in the greater Vancouver area is mandatory
-
Interest in teaching/educating toddlers, young kids between Grades K-7
-
Able to organize, plan and execute educational programs
-
Passionate and knowledgeable about STEM, chess and board games
-
Prior experience with teaching, tutoring, child-care or after-school programs is preferred

Manager, School Programs

Role Overview
Brainiacs Adventures is looking for a Manager, School Programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, scheduling and operational efficiency of all programs. This position reports directly to the CEO of Brainiacs Adventures. This is a high-impact role that works closely with senior leadership, educators and venues. This is a part-time position expected to cover 10-15 hours per week with the potential of increasing the scope, number of hours and seniority of the role as the company grows.
Our after-school programs are typically for 2 hours during weekday afternoons and take place at Elementary Schools in the Greater Vancouver area. Brainiacs has multiple programs running at multiple schools throughout the week.
Our camps are typically during the summer for the entire week (Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm) at dedicated camp venues.
Operational Planning & Scheduling

Develop and implement master program schedules across all after-school sites, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals and staffing availability.

Coordinate daily, weekly, and seasonal activity calendars, accounting for holidays, school closures, and special events.

Maintain and continuously improve scheduling systems to optimize staff deployment and facility usage.
Efficiency & Process Improvement

Analyze operational workflows and identify opportunities for increased efficiency.

Standardize operating procedures and implement best practices across all program sites.

Use data to drive decisions, monitor KPIs, and prepare regular reports on attendance, program performance, utilization and customer feedback.
Staff Coordination & Resource Management
-
Manage the hiring process and pool of educators to ensure appropriate staffing levels for each program location.

Appoint program coordinators, coordinate training schedules, educator shift assignments, and substitute coverage as needed.

Manage inventory and logistics for supplies, equipment, and transportation where applicable.

Maintain the onboarding and guidance material for program coordinators and educators
Budgeting & Cost Control
-
Assist in developing and managing operational budgets for camps.

Track spending and forecast resource needs to ensure adherence to financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education Management, Public Administration, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, logistics, or program management—preferably within education, youth development, or nonprofit sectors.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites, teams, and operational workflows.
Preferred:
-
Passionate and knowledgeable about STEM, chess and board games
-
Experience working in after-school, recreational, or enrichment programs.

Proficiency in scheduling tools, workflow automation platforms, and MS Office/Google Workspace.

Familiarity with budgeting, grant compliance, and reporting metrics.
Qualifications

Salary Range: $45,000-$60,000 per year depending on hours needed and role evolution

Remote work environment with occasional travel to program sites required

Flexible working hours with occasional evening or weekend hours during peak programming seasons
